Games are a good way to kill time for us. We use games as stress busters or as part of our lives to make our day better. There are some incredibly addictive games out there that help you achieve these goals, although not all of them are meant for girls. These games usually don’t have strong female characters, which is a pity, but that’s just how it was. Things are different now, however, with developers realizing the need to have female centric games to tap into the other half of their audiences. Although there are gender neutral games as well, which can be played by all genders, but they’re not specifically meant for the girls.
But a quick look at the Play Store and you’ll realize that some of the top female centric games are popular today. There are plenty to choose from, however, so it’s not going to be easy to just pick one. We’re going to make that job easier for you today with the help of this list. We take a look at 5 best games that are meant for girls.
5 best games for girls
Once Upon a Tower
This is one of the few games which is still in Beta and is marked as the Editor’s Choice game on the Play Store. Despite being new, the game has been massively popular on both Android and iOS platforms. The premise is simple, you’re a princess stuck in a tower. But instead of waiting for the “valiant knight” to rescue you out of there, you take the initiative upon yourself to get out of the tower. The developers even have a sense of humor about it, saying “Cause he (valiant knight) isn’t coming — No, really, he isn’t. He was literally eaten by that guardian dragon over there.”
The app revolves around the princess’ travel through the confines of the tower. What happens in the end is for you to find out for yourself. You will have to leverage the hammer left behind by the knight and fight through a vast army of enemies on your way out, which can be incredibly handy. For all the young girls thinking feeling let down, this app is surely going to boost you up. One small complaint that I have with the game is that it contains ads, but no way to make them go away with in-app purchases. So the user will have to deal with them as they play the game. Overall, a perfect game and a must download for every young or adult women out there.
LAYTON’S MYSTERY JOURNEY
Coming from the Layton’s series of popular adventure games, this one makes you solve a tricky mystery. The protagonist here is Katrielle Layton, who has to venture around London to solve a mystery that could ultimately help in locating her missing father. You will find clues along the way, keeping you on the edge the whole time. The quests and mysteries are sometimes tricky, as they should be in any mystery game. The storyline keeps you hooked and the gameplay is particularly good as well.
This game is only a starter kit, though, which means that you’ll only get one solvable case. Other cases can be downloaded for free, but will require you to make an in-app purchase. Barring this little caveat, Layton’s Mystery Journey is a delightful app to help you kill some time while playing a female protagonist. The game is available in English, Spanish, and French, with other languages available in a user’s particular location. This particular version is free to download, and has no ads on offer, which is a relief. It will work on devices running Android 4.4 and above.
Agent Alice
You play as Agent Alice Wallace here, helping solve crimes. This game might not necessarily be for children, however, as it involves complicated mysteries and heading into crime scenes. The clues are hidden away everywhere and your progression within the game will depend on how keenly you look for them within the game’s environment. The game is divided into episodes, with each episode consisting of action, romance, mystery etc, making for a thrilling gameplay experience.
While this may seem like a puzzle game, it’s a lot more than that. The user is required to use all their skills with matching and quick reactions. It will help you kill a lot of time, no doubt, which is why we highly recommend everyone to try it out. The developer mentions that the app might display some ads now and then, but the Play Store listing mentions there are no ads. You will have to pay to unlock additional episodes within the game, which is how these games are designed. But the free version exists to help you get a feel of the game before making the purchase, so we suggest you to try it out. You can download Agent Alice on devices running on Android 4.0.3 or above, covering some of the devices from the past few years.
Lara Croft GO
One of the most popular female protagonists of our time, Lara Croft has to put all her skills to test in this amazing adventure game. You will find that surviving in the wilderness isn’t easy with the kind of threats that pose against Lara Croft as she goes about her journey. The visuals are amazing here and designed with great detail, making for a pleasurable gaming experience. Controls are slick too, with swipe gestures helping Croft move within mountains or maintain her disguise from a dangerous animal. It’s an interesting take on the modern Lara Croft and a must have game for all the fans of Lara Croft over the years. With a rating of 4.8 out of 5, the customers have great things to say about the game. This is a paid game, though, and will require you to shell out $0.99 for it. That’s not much considering what it brings to the table.
Monument Valley 2
This is a sequel to the original Monument Valley which was one of my favorite games, simply for the kind of gameplay it offered. It is a puzzle game, but the environment and the visuals make for a fantastic gaming experience. Monument Valley 2 revolves around a mother showing her child around the magical buildings and towers around the valley. It will definitely take a significant chunk of your time, and might not be a game to finish in one sitting, although you can try. Gameplay is simple, with the mother and the child requiring to cross obstacles by using the interactive environment around them. It can get quite frustrating at times, especially if you’re stuck on a particular level, which is all part of the fun here. Much like Lara Croft Go, Monument Valley 2 has no free version, and you’re required to shell out $4.99 for this game. But if there ever was a game to spend money on, it’s definitely this one.
