How To Use Entropay

I created my PayPal account almost 5 years ago, but I rarely use it because it wasn’t verified thus it had some limitations. Verifying PayPal is so simple if you have a credit card. As a student, there is no way for me to get a credit card except using my parents’. However, I don’t want to involve my parents in this case because who knows I could be out of control and surprise them with high credit card bill. So, I only use my PayPal for receiving small amount of money from my friend to buy really cheap items. For example in 2015, I bought Bioshock Infinite for only 1 USD because of Golden Joystick Awards event.

Few weeks ago, I had intention to learn about hosting web application in Virtual Private Server (VPS). I did some researches to decide in which VPS provider I’ll put my money on. Based on people recommendation on Reddit, YoutTube and few blogs, I concluded that there are 3 well-known VPS providers that offer cheap prices for beginner. They are Linode, Digital Ocean and Vultr. I prefer Vultr because they have 2.5 USD pricing with 20 GB of SSD, 1 CPU, 512 MB memory and 500 GB bandwidth. I then created account and found out that their payment options only credit card, PayPal, Bitcoin and AliPay. I tried using my debit card with VISA logo and it was declined. So, I guess the only way I could pay it is by PayPal and ask my friend to send me PayPal money. But, before asking my friend, I was a bit curious because he said he used a service to verify his PayPal. In Indonesia there is rumahpaypal.com that offers to verify and top up money to our PayPal using Virtual Credit Card (VCC). I wanted to try it, but because of security reason and I’ve never heard of VCC before, I decided to read more about it.

You can use photoshop to remove the 7th and 8th digit from your credit card, as well as to remove the CVV (this is acceptable to EntroPay and also provides you added security). As far as utility bill goes, a bill from you Television Company, or Internet Company is acceptable as is a power bill, or water bill. EntroPay Poker Sites. EntroPay is a convenient and secure way for online poker players to send and receive money at online poker rooms in just a few clicks. It is an especially handy way of depositing funds onto your favorite internet cardroom, especially if you are playing at more than one site.

Turns out, VCC is really common in banking industry. We can make multiple VCC and remove it whenever we want. I also found out that there is online service that could help us to make VCC for free without bank account. It is Entropay. I doubt it at first but after reading on Wikipedia that Entropay is working with Bank of Valetta in Malta to issue the VCC, I thought I would give it a try. Creating the VCC process is straightforward. If you want to make VCC there you can follow this steps (September 2017).

1. Sign Up at Entropay.com

Just fill all the forms and click Create Account.

2. Sign In at Entropay.com

Type your username and password that you’ve just created.

3. Create New VCC

Click the Cards tab, then click Create Card. If you are a Basic User, you are only allowed to have 1 VCC card. You should upgrade to Standard User to be able to create 5 VCCs. Upgrading to Standard User is really easy. They only ask you to verify your email address and fill up form about your mailing address. If you want to have up to 10 VCCs you can upgrade to Pro User by verifying your identity and mailing address. For me, Standard User is enough.

4. Type Your Card Nickname

They ask you to add nickname to VCC to make it easier for the user in identifying each VCC purpose. For instance, I can create one VCC to verify my PayPal and give it “PayPal” as nickname. So, if I create another VCC for other things I can give “Other Things” as nickname, just to not make me confuse with the PayPal one. After writing your card nickname, click Create Card and voila you have a Virtual Credit Card. But, wait a minute! You can’t use this VCC yet because it doesn’t have the VCC number. The number will be available after you top up your VCC.

5. Top Up Your VCC

Click Top Up button and then you will be asked to choose the top up method either using Credit/Debit Card or Wallet. Choose Credit/Debit Card, click Add New Credit/Debit Card then fill up the form with your Debit Card info. The minimum amount of top up is 5 USD and the maximum is varied depends on your User Type. If your are a Standard User the maximum value is 2,000 USD. Remember, they will charge you a 4.95% fee for topping up, so don’t surprise if the bill in your Debit Card is higher. If you’ve already fill all the form click Top Up button. My debit card has VISA logo and using Verified by VISA to process secure transaction. So, if you also have this, there will be a prompt with a logo of the bank that issue your debit card and it ask you to input one time code which is sent to your mobile phone. Input that code and the top up process is finished.

6. Pay Attention to Your VCC

After waiting a few minutes, you can see the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX in front of the card will change to your VCC number. This VCC is valid for 1 year and will be extended automatically 30 days before the expiry date. There are also 2 type of balances that you can see below the VCC. In a nutshell, your Actual Balance is the amount of money that you have currently and your Available Balance is the amount of money that you can use to pay. After topping up, both of them have the same value, but after using it to pay something, the Available Balance will decrease as much as the amount you paid while the Actual Balance is still. Based on their explanation, this is happened because they need time to update the amount of purchase that you’ve made. You can read the full explanation here. Also one thing that you need to know, Entropay VCC doesn’t support Address Verification System, so if a merchant use this system, you probably can’t use this VCC or may be you can call the merchant as suggested by Entropay.

Cool, now we have VCC, lets verify our PayPal account. You can follow this steps, it’s really simple.

1. Login to Your PayPal Account.

2. Click Wallet Tab

3. Under Credit Card, Click Link a Card

4. Fill All the Form

The CSC (3 digits) form is filled with 3 digits of CVV number in your Entropay VCC. For the billing address, just use your mailing or home address. Make sure you fill the information correctly and then click Save button.

5. Wait for Verification Process

As PayPal verification policy, they will charge your Credit Card with small amount of money. There will be a 4 digits code number in your VCC bill that you have to input to your PayPal card verification. In the picture above the code is 1392. In my experience it took few hours for the bill to appear in Entropay VCC and they charged me for 1.84 USD. But, they only refund 1.74 USD to my VCC, so probably there is a fee for verification process. If the verification success you will get email from PayPal that they’ve removed you PayPal limitations. Congratulation!

How To Use Entropay

Thank you for reading. Just for disclaimer, I’m not affiliate at all with Entropay. I wrote this post because I think there are a lot of people having difficulties in verifying their PayPal account without owning a credit card.

I’m not a native English speaker. Writing this post is part of practicing my English. Feel free to give feedback in the comment below about my post or if there is any grammar mistake or misused vocabulary. Thank you 🙂

Voila! I discovered one more new thing. I have found the way to add Entropay VCC to Google Checkout and use it without issues. I am quite experimenting nowadays. Frankly speaking it’s costing me money to experiment, but you know the necessity is something for which, sometimes we can go to any limits. This opens doors to possibilities and may help others.

In my last post, I detailed about how to get Entropay Virtual Credit Card (VCC) using SBI Maestro Debit Card. I got it and loaded it sometimes, so that experiment was totally successful.

Necessity is mother of Discovery or Inventions (whatever you like).

NEW NEED?

I needed to buy some Applications from Android Market, and I had only Entropay Virtual Visa (Credit) Card.

PROBLEMS?

* Android Market uses Google Checkout, which only takes Credit Cards with valid address and
information. Debit cards and especially cards, which are Maestro are not allowed.
* Entropay VCC is a VISA but still problem was there as it doesn’t have address and other information.
I contacted Entropay but they said you can use it with any address. This wasn’t case as Google verifies
the address and declines the card.

WORK AROUND?

There were some interesting things which I noticed. Hmmm…

1. It was giving me an error only with Postal Code and City/Region but not with Street Address line.
2. Google was still adding the card as there is no problem in Number or CVV. However, status remained as Declined. Reason: Postal Code wasn’t matching (may be).
3. It was very clear and a hunch that Google Checkout is checking the card’s origin not the address.

SOLUTION?

What I did? You want to know? Oh! Definitely you want to.

  1. I just went to Entropay website and copied their ‘Contact Us’ Address.
  2. Now, I added one more address to my PROFILE of Google Checkout as it was copied from Entropay.
I didn’t make it default. It can be understood that you may be travelling. Logical and Legal!
  3. Add your card with Address copied from Entropay.
  4. Put your real Mobile Number and Name or it will be declined.
  5. Hit the ADD / SAVE. It will be accepted. Voila!

Add Secondary Address To Google Checkout:

Add Card and Details:

I also did transactions on Android Market. Congratulations! You can now, purchase anything using Google Checkout.

BEWARE OF CHARGES:

Remember if you are purchasing anything in Dollars (USD), then there will be no charges (I am quite sure as they never charged me extra). This applies to all countries and places.

However, if you are purchasing in INR (rupees) or any other currency than USD, heavy charges will be taken by Google and Entropay. Single App/Product of Euro 1 (64 INR) may cost you something 2.50 USD, in real. So, it is like around 65% surcharge as there is thrice conversion between Dollar, Euro and Rupees.

So, only use it when the transaction is in dollars. You won’t be charged extra. In emergency or need, you can go ahead with any currency keeping charges in mind.

Finally, do remember that who found the way, say Thanks and share the blog with all in need.
